Accreditation and History
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) supports student graduation plans through Georgia Virtual Learning (GaVL), including online courses with Georgia Virtual School (GaVS) and credit recovery (GaCR) programs for the state’s school districts. Georgia Virtual Learning also provides online free shared curriculum resources for Georgia’s teachers.
Georgia Virtual Learning, started on May 2, 2005 with the Governor’s signature of the Georgia Virtual School (GaVS) bill, O.C.G.A.20-2-31, works in partnership with K-12 schools by providing supplemental online learning opportunities for public and non-public school students and students in grades 6 through 12th grade.
Georgia Virtual School is accredited by Cognia®. We’ve been recognized for our steadfast commitment to providing a high-quality education for every one of our students and our promise to continue improving for them.
