What are the key requirements to apply to the Georgia Virtual School or the GaTutor programs?

Georgia Virtual School

  • Georgia Certified Teachers:
    • Current, valid, and in-field Georgia teaching certification issued by the GaPSC
    • Completion of the first two courses in the Effective Online Teaching Pathway: Professional Responsibilities and Digital Pedagogy.
    • College Board training for Advanced Placement courses.
    • Requisite time to complete the induction process (link to the child page) and to provide quality instruction to all students on a flexible schedule.

 

 

GaTutor Program

  • Certification: All tutors must have a current valid Georgia teaching certificate in their respective subject area. 
  • Flexible Availability: Tutors will be required to have availability for 12 sessions MINIMUM (6 hours) per week between the hours of 4-10 p.m. Monday – Friday, 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. Saturday, 1-8 p.m. Sunday.
For the GaTutor program, what are the tutor’s responsibilities?

As a GaTutor, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one tutoring sessions to students in your area of expertise.
  • Assessing students’ learning needs and developing personalized tutoring plans.
  • Delivering engaging and interactive tutoring sessions that cater to different learning styles.
  • Monitoring students’ progress and providing constructive feedback to help them thrive academically.
  • Maintaining accurate records of tutoring sessions and student progress.
What is the compensation for working with Georgia Virtual Learning?

Georgia Virtual School

All GaVS instructors begin tenure as adjunct instructors and get paid through the Georgia Department of Education on a per-student basis each semester.

  • ½ Carnegie unit course – $130/student
  • ½ Carnegie unit AP course – $155/student
  • 1 Carnegie unit course (block) – $260/student
  • 1 Carnegie unit AP course (block) – $310/student

GaVirtual administration determines teaching and other responsibilities according to student enrollment and needs. We offer teaching assignments in Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters.

Successful adjunct teachers may qualify for full-time salaried positions based on enrollment and strategic planning.

 

GaTutor

Compensation for tutors is based on completed tutoring sessions.

  • $25 per each successfully completed 30 minute tutoring session
